ICOS

The Irish Co-operative Organisation Society (ICOS) is a co-operative umbrella organisation that organises and promotes viable commercial co-operative enterprises, across multiple sectors of the Irish rural and agricultural economy.

As a representative umbrella organisation for the co-operative movement in Ireland, ICOS is focused on driving the evolution of the Irish co-operative sector through the promotion of best practice, change and helping to enhance the sustainability of our member co-ops.

ICOS also works in supporting the establishment of new enterprise focused rural co-operatives in such sectors as forestry, energy, tourism, artisan foods, crafts, broadband, retail, group water schemes, fishing, care of the elderly, child care, and other service related activities and also in other community type co-operatives.

The Golden Jubilee Trust supports the work of ICOS by contributing to the cost of a Co-operative Development Executive who advises and work with groups interested in becoming co-operatives and in the promotion of the benefits of the co-operative model to local and national community and enterprise development agencies. This work is currently being carried out by Ms Siobhán Mehigan.
